Lalitpur/ June 23: Ward No. 16 of Lalitpur Metropolitan City. A night trade fair will be held at Nagbahal in Patan on June 25th and 26th at the initiative of the Women’s Committee.
According to the information given at a press conference here on Saturday, a night trade fair is going to be held for the first time from 5 pm to 9 pm with the intention of promoting Jatra, clothing, our identity and culture.
The coordinator of the fair management committee, Bavita Shrestha, informed that the fair is going to be organized with the aim of promoting handicrafts, marketing local products and developing tourism by encouraging and promoting the night trade and market.
“This is the first and small effort for the promotion of handicrafts, development of tourism, with the aim of making Patan awake 24 hours a day, with the aim of working according to the long-term plan to uplift this area, this fair is going to be held for the first time.” He said.
Ward no. Chairman of 16, Nirmalratna Shakya said that this effort will be important to help the locals living in the city, which has great potential for tourism, to earn income.
“We believe that Handicraft Federation, Patan Tourism Development Organization will also support this fair. This step has been taken to support the long-term plans of the metropolitan city. Women will have an opportunity to earn money by selling handicrafts and other materials produced at home,” he said.
He expressed his belief that through this work, local labor, skills and abilities will be marketed as well as help in the income generation of the community. He informed that musical programs will also be conducted during the fair.
According to the organizer, the fair will include local handicraft items, local Newari food dishes. Chairman Shakya said that this program which is going to be held with the intention of promoting Jatra, dress, our identity and culture will be further refined. He informed that a comprehensive schedule will be made to organize the fair from next year.
Chiribabu Maharjan, the head of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality, has been saying that within the campaign to make Lalitpur a ‘Smart City’, the ‘Patan Does Not Sleep’ plan will also be included and for that, disaster management and other works will be done along with the necessary infrastructure.
