Kathmandu. President Ramchandra Paudel is returning home this morning after visiting Germany after Switzerland. He is scheduled to return to Nepal from Berlin, Germany via Doha, Qatar. According to the personal secretariat of the President, Ramkaji Khadka, the Ambassador of Nepal to Germany and high officials of the German government, bid farewell to President Paudel at the Berlin Brandenburg International Airport. First Lady Savita Paudel, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and high officials of the President’s Office are also participating in the visiting party.
Earlier on Monday, a delegation-level meeting was held between President Paudel and German President Frank Walter Steinmeier in Berlin, Germany. On that occasion, it is said that the relations between the two countries and mutual interests were discussed. Before the bilateral meeting, President Paudel was honored with a guard of honor by the German government.
It is said that this is the first visit of President Paudel from Nepal to Germany at the level of the head of state since 1986. During his stay in Germany, President Poudel visited various institutions related to science, technology and research in Germany on Sunday. During the observation, after the scientists informed about the effects of climate change, President Paudel asked for research on the effects of climate change as well as suggestions for solutions that developed countries should take immediately to reduce this effect.
On Monday, he visited the historical site with the broken wall between East and West Germany. Similarly, in his honor, the Nepali Embassy in Berlin, Germany organized a special reception here on Sunday. On this occasion, President Paudel invited all Nepalis to contribute to the economic development of Nepal by using the knowledge, skills and technology they have learned, wherever they are. On this occasion, President Paudel was congratulated on behalf of the Non-Resident Nepalese Association in Germany
. Earlier, President Paudel addressed the high-level program of the 112th International Labor Conference in Geneva, Switzerland and the inaugural session of the Global Alliance for Social Justice on May 31.
During his speech, he appealed to the world community to respect labor and social justice. In addition, President Paudel appealed to the Nepali youth who have gone for foreign employment to treat them with respect and said, “The trend of young people from developing countries going to labor destination countries in search of work is increasing. Considering this fact, I would like to appeal to all the countries of the world to appreciate the work of foreign workers and treat them like native workers.
During his stay in Switzerland, a meeting was held between him and the President of Switzerland, Viola Emherd, in Bern, focusing on the relations between the two countries, mutual cooperation and the expansion of relations. Similarly, President Paudel and Director General of International Labor Organization Gilbert F. Hungbo also had a courtesy meeting in Geneva. During his stay in Switzerland, President Paudel visited the ancient city of Old Geneva and observed the historical sites there.
Similarly, he attended the reception organized in his honor by the Nepali Embassy in Switzerland. Meanwhile, Ram Prasad Subedi, Ambassador of Nepal to Switzerland, said that the meeting between the President of Nepal and the President of Switzerland for the first time after 25 years has strengthened the relationship between the two countries and mentioned that his speech at the ILO program established Nepal’s international identity.
President Ramchandra Poudel has left for Switzerland and Germany on Tuesday evening, May 29th. President Poudel left for Geneva via Doha, Qatar. This is his first official visit abroad after being elected president.
A successful and productive visit
His foreign advisor Dr. Sureshraj Chalise said that this visit has conveyed an important message to expand and strengthen Nepal’s relations at the global level in the changing environment. Stating that this meeting at the head of state level of influential European countries was historic after a long time, Dr. Chalise said that the participation of President Paudel in the ILO showed the solidarity of Nepal in the global alliance for social justice.
President’s press advisor Kiran Pokharel said that the visit to Germany and Switzerland was very successful and fruitful. He also said that the views expressed in the speech given by the President at the program of the International Labor Organization have contributed significantly to establishing and expanding Nepal’s international identity.
